Maharashtra reported 1,881 new coronavirus cases on Tuesday, up 81% from the previous day and the most since February 18, as well as one B.A.5 variant case, according to the state health department. There were 1,242 new cases in the state capital of Mumbai alone, nearly quadrupling the number on Monday.

During the day, no additional pandemic-related deaths were recorded. On Monday, the state had 1,036 illnesses, with 676 cases registered in Mumbai. It’s worth noting that fewer instances are reported on Mondays since fewer tests are performed on weekends. The COVID-19 cases in Maharashtra increased to 78,96,114 on Tuesday, while the death toll remained steady at 1,47,866.

The daily increase in cases on Tuesday was the greatest since February 18, when the state reported 2,086 new cases. According to the official statement, according to the newest ‘whole genome sequencing’ study from BJ Medical College in Pune, a 31-year-old lady tested positive for the B.A.5 variation.

The daily infection surge in Mumbai, at 1,242, was the biggest since January 29, when 1,411 new cases were registered in India’s financial city. In recent days, Mumbai has been pushing the state’s coronavirus numbers. In Maharashtra, there are now 8,432 ongoing cases. As of Tuesday, there are no current cases in the districts of Nandurbar, Dhule, Jalna, Akola, Buldhana, and Gondia.

Since the previous evening, 878 patients have recovered, bringing the total number of recovered patients in the state to 77,39,816. The state’s recovery rate is 98.02 percent. Since the previous evening, 35,694 coronavirus tests have been performed, bringing the total number of coronavirus tests completed to 8,11,12,952.
