Arunachal Sees Major Boost as BRO Completes Key Border Roads and Bridges Near China Border

Arunachal Pradesh has received a big boost in border infrastructure as the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) inaugurated 21 important projects on May 7, 2025. These were part of 50 national-level infrastructure projects launched by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh ahead of the 66th BRO Raising Day.

Among the highlights are six key bridges in Upper Siang district, constructed under Project Brahmank by the 761 Border Roads Task Force (BRTF). Five of these were built along the Dite Dimme-Migging road in just one working season using modern techniques. Another major project—a 55-meter steel truss bridge on the Migging-Tuting road—was also completed, improving access near the India-China border.

These new developments are expected to strengthen both national security and local development. The upgraded roads and bridges will help Indian forces move faster in strategic areas while also supporting economic growth, tourism, and transport in the region. These efforts align with the Vibrant Villages Programme, which aims to improve governance and connectivity in remote border areas.

Arunachal East MP Tapir Gao, speaking at the virtual event, praised the BRO’s work and called these projects crucial for both defence readiness and public infrastructure. He thanked the central government and Chief Engineer SC Looniya for their leadership and timely completion of the bridges.

Tuting-Yingkiong MLA Alo Libang stressed the need to fast-track road links between Yingkiong and Bising village, saying this would cut the travel distance to Tuting to just 50 km, improving mobility for both civilians and defence teams.

The event celebrated the BRO’s broader efforts across India’s northeast and other hilly regions like Kashmir. The BRO continues to play a key role in nation-building through road and bridge projects, especially in India’s strategic and remote frontiers.
