Live Ammunition Found on Air India Flight Sparks Investigation at Indira Gandhi International Airport

An alarming incident occurred at Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA) when live ammunition was found on an Air India flight during routine cleaning. According to police reports, the discovery was made on October 27, leading the IGIA Police to register a First Information Report (FIR) under the Arms Act.

Discovery Details

The live cartridge was located in the seat pocket of a flight that had just arrived from Dubai to Delhi. Thankfully, all passengers disembarked safely prior to the discovery, and the airline promptly notified the authorities. An investigation has since been initiated to determine the circumstances surrounding how the ammunition ended up on the aircraft.

Recent Context of Security Threats

This incident comes in the wake of multiple bomb-related threats directed at various airline companies last month, many of which were later confirmed to be hoaxes. Numerous airlines have reported such threats via social media, resulting in significant flight delays as rigorous security searches were carried out. Fortunately, the majority of these threats have turned out to be false alarms.

Air India has stated that they are cooperating fully with the investigation to ensure the safety and security of their passengers.

This incident highlights the ongoing need for stringent security measures in aviation to prevent potential threats and ensure passenger safety.
