Djibouti Takes a Big Step in Digital Education
Djibouti has started a new AI training program that will help change the country’s education system. The General Inspectorate of National Education (IGEN) launched this project with the Ministry of National Education and Vocational Training (MENFOP) and the International Organization of La Francophonie (OIF) on October 8, 2025.
This initiative marks an important step toward digital transformation and innovation in education. It will help education leaders understand how artificial intelligence (AI) can improve teaching, management, and decision-making.
Building AI Skills for Education Leaders
The program is part of the 2025–2026 Continuing Education Plan. It focuses on improving the digital and ethical skills of educational inspectors in Djibouti.
Through this program, inspectors will learn how to use AI tools responsibly to support better training, supervision, and school management. In other words, it aims to ensure that technology benefits both teachers and students.
Expert Leadership and Practical Training
The sessions are led by Dr. Houssein Ahmed Assowe, Director of the Center for Research in Mathematics and Digital Technology and Lecturer in Computer Science at the University of Djibouti.
Each session combines theory, real case studies, and hands-on practice. This mix helps inspectors understand how AI can be applied in everyday education tasks. As a result, participants gain both knowledge and confidence to use technology in smart ways.
Seven Focused AI Learning Sessions
The training includes seven sessions scheduled from October 2025 to January 2026. Every session covers a key topic in AI and education, including:
-
Digital Ethics and Responsible AI
-
Data Management and Privacy
-
Adaptive Learning Technologies
-
AI-Powered Decision Support Tools
These modules help inspectors develop leadership skills in digital innovation. Moreover, they prepare them to guide schools toward safe and effective AI integration.
Creating a Smarter Future for Djibouti’s Schools
This initiative is a major step forward for Djibouti. It gives education inspectors the tools they need to lead digital change in schools.
By promoting AI literacy and ethical technology use, Djibouti is shaping a more inclusive, innovative, and data-driven education system.
In the long run, the AI Education Training Program will strengthen educational governance and build a future-ready generation of learners and teachers.
