Border 2 Opens Strong on Day One
Border 2, the highly anticipated war drama starring Sunny Deol, Varun Dhawan, and Diljit Dosanjh, had a strong opening at the box office on Friday. Riding on record-breaking advance bookings, the film saw packed theatres across India, surpassing the opening day collection of Ranveer Singh’s Dhurandhar.
According to early estimates, Border 2 earned ₹30 crore net on its first day, while Dhurandhar collected ₹27 crore. The film’s impressive performance highlights its strong appeal among audiences eager for a patriotic cinematic experience.
Pre-Sales and Ticket Sales Impress
The movie also posted remarkable pre-sale numbers, grossing ₹12.5 crore on its opening day and selling over 4 lakh tickets nationwide. This outperformed Dhurandhar, which had been one of the biggest hits of 2025.
As a spiritual sequel to J.P. Dutta’s Border, the film was promoted as Bollywood’s first major release of 2026, and its opening day performance has confirmed audience enthusiasm.

Border 2 is now projected to achieve a ₹100+ crore opening weekend, putting it on track to surpass several of last year’s major releases. While it could not surpass Chhaava (₹32 crore) or Sunny Deol’s personal record of ₹40.10 crore set by Gadar 2 in 2023, the film’s performance remains a strong start for 2026.
