The Arunachal Pradesh police have filed a criminal case following the tragic suicide of 19-year-old Gomchu Yekar, a case that has drawn national attention. Shortly after, Likwang Lowang also died by suicide, intensifying the ongoing investigation.

Police have registered the case under Sections 108, 271, 272, and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, covering abetment of suicide. Authorities are actively searching for Talo Potom, an IAS officer currently serving as Special Secretary, PWD, Delhi government, who is reportedly evading police.

The FIR filed by Yekar’s father details serious allegations, including coercion into illegal activities, repeated humiliation, and threats. The suicide notes, shared with the media, describe prolonged harassment, manipulation, broken financial promises, and intimidation, with one note mentioning Yekar had contracted HIV due to the alleged abuse. Yekar called for justice, stating his death was directly caused by the misconduct of the officials.
