Arunachal APPSCCE-2024: Candidates Alleging Discrepancies Demand Clarity on Exam Results and Cut-Off Marks

A group of 12 candidates of the Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Commission Combined Competitive Examination (APPSCCE)-2024 have raised serious allegations regarding discrepancies in the preliminary exam results, sparking concerns about the overall examination process.

In a formal complaint addressed to the APPSC chairman and secretary, the candidates highlighted inconsistencies with the commission’s advertised guidelines. According to the notification, the number of candidates selected for the mains examination should be approximately 12 times the number of advertised vacancies, or as determined by the commission.

Discrepancies in Shortlisted Candidates

The results, however, allegedly fail to follow the 1:12 selection ratio. With 140 vacancies and 17,009 candidates appearing for the exam, the candidates argue that 1,680 individuals should have been shortlisted. Instead, only 1,658 candidates were selected.

The candidates also demanded clarity regarding the qualifying paper (CSAT or Paper-II). They suspect that only 1,658 candidates qualified for the CSAT, resulting in the same number being shortlisted for the next stage.

Concerns Over Cut-Off Marks and Answer Keys

The aggrieved candidates questioned the commission’s handling of the cut-off marks for general studies (Paper-I). Several candidates, confident in their performance, were excluded, leading to confusion about the selection criteria.

Additionally, they sought transparency on how the commission handled successfully challenged answer keys. The candidates questioned whether marks were awarded only to those who attempted the respective questions, all candidates, or just those who filed objections.

The letter also raised issues regarding questions with multiple answers, as many candidates avoided such questions despite knowing the correct responses.

Demand for Grievance Redressal

In their appeal, the candidates urged the commission to address these concerns urgently by establishing a grievance redressal cell in compliance with the Arunachal Pradesh Public Examination (Measures for Prevention of Unfair Means in Recruitment) Act, 2024.

They further demanded that the 22 additional candidates, who should have been included based on the advertised ratio, be added to the shortlisted list.

Call for Transparency and Fairness

The candidates emphasized the need for fairness, transparency, and adherence to the rules to maintain the credibility of the Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Commission and ensure justice for all deserving aspirants.
