Senior BJP leader Lompak Paksok has passed away at his residence in Dumporijo, Upper Subansiri district. Honoring his last wish, his family donated his body to Tomo Riba Institute of Health & Medical Sciences (TRIHMS) for medical research, making a significant contribution to the field of healthcare and education.
A Selfless Act for Medical Science
Paksok, who suffered from a critical health condition, had expressed his desire to donate his body to TRIHMS. His family respected his wish and officially handed over his body to the anatomy department of TRIHMS. The institution’s principal, Dr. Shyamal Bhattacharya, praised Paksok’s decision, emphasizing that such acts greatly benefit medical research.
This marks the fourth voluntary body donation to TRIHMS, following the example set by Minoti Riba, wife of former Chief Minister Tomo Riba.
Paksok’s Political Journey
Born in 1974, Paksok earned his LLB degree from Guwahati and dedicated his life to public service. His association with the BJP began in 2007 as the general secretary of the Upper Subansiri BJP unit. He later contested the 2009 Assembly Elections from Dumporijo against Congress leader Takar Marde.
A Family Tragedy and an Unwavering Legacy
Paksok’s passing came on the same day his family was observing the first death anniversary of his son, Pakmar Paksok, who, along with four relatives, tragically lost his life in a road accident in Kamle district.
Condolences and Tributes
Former AAPSU General Secretary Gumjum Haider and BJP leaders expressed their grief, highlighting Paksok’s commitment to public service and nation-building. His contribution to collecting iron for the Statue of Unity, the world’s tallest statue dedicated to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, remains a testament to his dedication.
BJP state president Kaling Moyong and BJP Kisan Morcha president Gumsen Lollen described him as a visionary leader, emphasizing his dedication to policy development, national integrity, and public welfare.
During a BJP condolence meeting, party leaders observed two minutes of silence to honor his memory, reaffirming their commitment to uphold his values of service and development.
